Hello, I'm Lauren Johnson! Undergraduate journalism student at the University of Missouri, graduating in May 2027. Journalism major with an emphasis in reporting and writing and an art minor.
I am a journalist focusing on reporting and writing about important issues the affect society. My main focus and interests is about environmental problems and issues. I have started writing for the Columbia Missourian the beginning of 2026 for my course, called JOURN-4180W. This was the course that introduced me to journalism writing at a professional local news outlet.
Additionally, at the same time, I started writing for Vox Magazine where I was assigned the city life department. I had to pitch three different ideas during the 2026 spring semester under the city life category. I am also a graphic designer and have several years of experience working with Adobe software.
I first gathered this experience in high school with my magazine club where I served as photo editor. Additionally, I was able to branch out and work on different Adobe Cloud softwares during my time at my community college.
Currently at Mizzou, I have different roles in the community that test my graphic design skills. I served as one of the social media chairs for the Mizzou Magazine Club where I created social media posts. As well as being a part of the Her Campus magazine committe, it has allowed me to have creative freedom when it comes to creating spreads for the print magazine. Lastly, I serve as the assistant art director for Vox Magazine where I help create department spreads while assisting with design changes the magazine faces.
